Talking to Strangers...in a good way!

It never ceases to amaze me how people will share information with total strangers that their best friends may not even know about...

Besides the usual travel stories, (stuck on the airplane/bus for hours so you might as well make conversation, etc), I think women tend to take this habit to the next level. I myself am guilty as recently as 2 days ago when I stopped for a cup of coffee to keep me awake on my cross-state drive back home.  At this nondescript gas station pretty much in the middle of nowhere, I ended up in a conversation about menopause and the pros and cons of HRT with a very nice gal just a little older than myself who had joined me at the coffee station. This happened all because she commented about her eyesight having gone downhill when she reached 40. I lamented the same problem but since my hysterectomy and I swear the room got brighter when her brain clicked that it was right after her cool female surgery that she started having problems.

Inside of  five minutes, we had exchanged what types of supplements we had tried, what worked, what didn't, the bitch of having hot flashes - you name it, we covered it and then grabbed our cups of coffee and went on our merry way! How does this happen? All's it takes is a single link... one connecting factor and BOOM! We're off and running :)

I'd love to hear about the interesting conversation that you've had with a stranger. Maybe it was ended up being a networking connection? a love connection? Talk to me - Pretend I'm a stranger (or at least stranger than you :)

"What in the World Were You Thinking?" Wednesday

"Far-From-Thinking"  Help me caption this picture...This is from an email entitled "Why men don't live as long as women" and apparently it starts at a very young age. Share with me your ideas for a witty title :)

Tidbit Tuesday

So the way I figure it, we can all use a little help~ some more than others, but that's a whole other bottle of wine :) That being so stated, I've enclosed a few little tips to hopefully make your life easier:

* Add one teaspoon of lemon juice to each quart of water when cooking rice. This will keep it fluffy.

*You can tell if an egg is good or not by putting it in a cup of water.  If the egg floats, the egg is not good. If it sinks to the bottom, it is a good egg.

*Break in those stiff jeans and make them soft by washing with detergent and a half cup of table salt.

*If you spill wine, juice, coffee, etc. on a carpet, pour regular table salt in a heap on top of the stain. It will absorb the liquid and you simply have to vacuum it up.

Now readers, it's your turn to share... What are your simple tips that make life easier? (Beside betting on the third horse in the fourth race :)

"Whose got a case of the Monday's?"

I've uncovered a corporate secret that I'm going to let you in on... There's a reason why companies don't like you taking a lot of time off away from work and it's this - the more time you spend away from work, the more time you have to wonder why you bother going there in the first place!
If you haven't seen the movie Office Space, you are missing out on a classic! One of the most quoteable lines is right here. For those of you fortunate enough to work outside of the corporate rat race, consider yourself lucky.  For those trapped in cubicle hell, I'd love to hear of your craziest moment at work. Also, what is one of your best "work-ism's"? Mine is "Procrastination on your part does NOT constitute an emergency on mine".

Friday Funny

Give us a sense of humor,
Give us the grace to see a joke,
To get some humor out of life,
And pass it on to other folk...

What better birthday present to receive than one from yourself? That way, you're always assured of getting what you want. With life in general, it's not that easy but that doesn't mean it's not worthwhile. Life is about taking chances. It's about looking/being outside of the "box" and other life-isms. It really just comes down to living. We only have one go-around (that we know of) and we really need to make the most of it while we're here. Just so you know, I'm a fan of sayings, quotes and words of wisdom, but that doesn't always mean I will be wise. I'm human, like the rest of you (I hope) and you will enjoy this daily hiccup of information and opinion. Follow me - what do you have to lose? :)
